Continuous-wave ultrasound reflectometry for surface roughness imaging applications.
BACKGROUND Measurement of surface roughness irregularities that result from various sources such as manufacturing processes, surface damage, and corrosion, is an important indicator of product quality for many nondestructive testing (NDT) industries. Many techniques exist, however because of their qualitative, time-consuming and direct-contact modes, it is of some importance to work out new exp...
متن کاملAll-optoelectronic continuous wave THz imaging for biomedical applications.
We present an all-optoelectronic THz imaging system for ex vivo biomedical applications based on photomixing of two continuous-wave laser beams using photoconductive antennas. The application of hyperboloidal lenses is discussed. They allow for f-numbers less than 1/2 permitting better focusing and higher spatial resolution compared to off-axis paraboloidal mirrors whose f-numbers for practical...
متن کاملMeasuring Copper Surface Roughness for High Speed Applications
This paper examines the use of Light Interferometry and the relevant parameters used to measure copper surface roughness before and after oxide alternative. Also discussed are the limitations and drawbacks of some of the traditional measurement parameters as they apply to copper surface roughness for conductor loss and signal integrity characterization and process control. In the PCB industry, ...
متن کاملSurface Roughness Measurement for Outdoor Mobile Robotic Applications
The ability to measure terrain roughness is essential for safe and e cient navigation of outdoor mobile robots. This paper describes a prototype system consisting of a colour camera and a laser stripe generator for the measurement of ground surface roughness. With outdoor mobile robotic applications in mind, the system provides a cheap, fast and robust alternative to other methods of roughness ...
متن کاملRMS slope of exponentially correlated surface roughness for radar applications
In radar signature analysis, the root mean square (RMS) surface slope is utilized to assess the relative contribution of multiple scattering effects. For an exponentially correlated surface, an effective RMS slope can be determined by truncating the high frequency tail of the roughness spectrum. The choice of the cutoff frequency and the effect on surface scattering simulations are discussed.
